The Riley Heart Center is built around a simple, yet powerful care model: outcomes improve when top physicians, nurses and other caregivers work in a physical environment specifically designed to support them.

Research on a national level has proven that surgical outcomes are improved with consistently high case volume and ongoing care of related patient populations. With 50 years of experience treating children and performing over 650 pediatric heart surgeries a year, Riley has established itself as one of the top 10 pediatric cardiovascular programs in the country.

At the core of the capabilities are pediatric cardiovascular specialists including pediatric cardiovascular surgeons and pediatric cardiologists who are among the nation's most experienced and most respected.

Beside them is a dedicated team of pediatric anesthesiologists, pharmacists, perfusionists, specialty-trained nurses, nurse practitioners and therapists committed to the care of children. Just beyond the clinical care team exists a network of child life specialists to aid with ongoing school efforts and cheer guild volunteers to provide an extra measure of support and comfort.

Under the leadership of pediatric cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons, Riley Hospital's cardiac services have earned and maintained a national reputation for clinical excellence. Since 1950, families and their physicians have looked to Riley for comprehensive evaluation, medical management and surgery for infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease.
