The K-12 Teaching and Learning Center is owned and maintained by Dr. Mark Whitman of West Lafayette, Indiana. The site offers multiple resources on Disease, Illness, and Disorders from Mad Cow Disease, to Acne, Arthritis, STD'S and Ebola. It also includes lesson plans for educators of all age groups. However, you must become a member by paying an annual membership fee in order to take advantage of the sites services and resources (several options exist from teacher membership $25 to school membership $100 allowing access for all faculty, staff, parents, and students of the same school). The page also offers resources on a variety of other subjects such as History, Mathematics, Geography, Fine Arts, Science, and Special Needs Education.

The Science of HIV website sponsored by the Discovery Channel offers lesson plans geared toward grades 9-12. The plans are designed to be used over two class sessions and the site offers tools to create your own worksheets, quizzes, and word puzzles dealing with HIV topics. Resources also include discussion guides, suggested readings, and several links directed towards HIV/AIDS education and how you can order The Science of HIV video.

The Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) website offers a resource on HIV/AIDS that was designed to complement the information shared in a recently aired program on NOVA entitled Surviving AIDS. The site offers an interactive activity Fighting Back which teaches about the body's immune system, See HIV in Action, a Quicktime movie that walks you through the life cycle of HIV, world maps showing the degree in which areas across the globe have been affected by HIV, as well as updates from leading researchers concerning the search for a vaccine and their concerns about the spread of the disease.

Go Ask Alice! is an internet Q&A website sponsored by Columbia University's Health Education Program. Go Ask Alice! receives approximatley 1,500+ questions per week from students, parents, teachers, and others concerning just about any health-related topic imaginable. Teachers and textbook manufacturers have used the website to supplement high school and college health courses. The health educators, physicians, read and review each question submitted to ensure the accuracy of the answer provided. You may browse the site for recently posted questions and their answers or you may submit your own question. All submissions are kept anonymous.
